Clockworx Design Encourages Bird Life at Moors Valley

Clockworx, a creative design agency based in Ferndown are running a green initiative aimed at both the local community and their own clients in order to encourage local birdlife. Clockworx, part of the SPS Print Group has manufactured bird boxes on their premises using recycled wood a by-product of the broken printing pallets that are otherwise sent to a recycling company.

25 of these bird boxes have been donated to Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, with another 35 being sent in the form of an innovative mailer to their existing client base encouraging them to promote bird life in their gardens. The follow on from the mailer will be an interactive web page in spring time with clients able to post photos of birds using their bird boxes. A web-cam will also be placed into a bird box which can be viewed at any time to hopefully watch the chicks development.

Toby Martin the Managing Director of the SPS Group and Clockworx said that "this simple exercise shows that we believe in protecting our natural habitat by recycling our waste materials and giving back to the community. Moors Valley was a natural choice for us to donate to as it is part of our community and provides a wonderful outdoor experience for people of all ages to enjoy everything that nature has to offer."

Austin Weldon, Assistant Ranger at Moors Valley Country Park and Forest said "we are delighted to receive these boxes from a local business. Bird boxes are very important to our resident birds. They are used not only for nesting in the summer months but also for roosting in the winter if the weather is particularly harsh. The Rangers at Moors Valley would like to express their warmest thanks to Clockworx."
